Version History
2004-02-27 - WinCue v1.40
- WinCue is now GPL! Check http://sf.net/projects/wincue for more details.
- New feature: ID3v1.0/v1.1 and v2.0 tags are now supported, as well as file
format info such as MPEG version and layer, bitrate, song length, etc.
(though only for mp3 files at the moment).
- New feature: File info research is now done in the background. This
results in the Media Library loading much faster, as only the filenames
are scanned when initially loading the library. The song info will then be
updated as it becomes available.
- Searching is now *much* faster than before. Searching a playlist of
100,000+ entries now typically takes a few seconds insetad of a few
minutes on my P3-600Mhz! :)
- Track info guessing is now done from a list of user-configurable regular
expressions. Look at Plugins\wincue\filename_formats.txt in your Winamp
folder to see what it's all about. (Note: You do not need to know anything
about regular expressions to use the track info guessing.)
- Added option to set keyboard focus on Winamp window at startup.
- Added option to show track length in search list.
- Added option to show track info tooltips in search list.
- Added option to reverse sort order for Media Libray when automatic sorting
at load is enabled.
- Added date & time as sort criterias for search list.
- Added option to copy Winamp's playlist at startup.
- Added option to clear Winamp's playlist on exit.
- Added a hacky party mode. (Set party_mode=1 in registry to use it. It's
still *very* experimental though...)
- Help pages are now displayed in external browser instead of Winamp's
browser window. (This caused problems with Winamp 5.)
- Removed old file info dialog in favour of a more general text view.
- Redesigned parts of the Options dialog and shuffled some options around.
Hopefully things are better arranged now.
- Fixed a problem with reloading the Media Library/playlist always resulting
in an empty search (showing all entries) when "Delay search X ms" was not
enabled.
- Fixed problem with AutoCue not being very random.
- Fixed a problem with Clear & Cue.
- Fixed a problem with saving/restoring font settings.
- Fixed problem with not being able to scroll back to the top of the search
list with the mouse wheel.
- Fixed a bug causing playlist entries to be overwritten when cueing
multiple tracks after current. (Cue As Next with multiple selection.)
- Fixed problem with selection color not being skinned in the search list.
- Fixed crash problem with scrollbar.
- Fixed problem with caching of Media Libray not working when HOME or
USERPROFILE environment variables contained paths to non-existing folders.
- Numerous minor fixes and improvements.
2003-04-09 - WinCue v1.35
- New installer w/uinstall.
- New and improved documentation in HTML format.
- Added a "Welcome To WinCue" dialog to help out new users understanding how
the Media Library works and how to configure it. (Dialog will only be
displayed once.)
- Added "Cue As Next" feature. This will cue the selected song(s) after the
currently playing entry in the Winamp playlist.
- Added option to cache Media Library.
- New feature: Cue Box
WinCue now features a way of cueing files only by entering their number in
the playlist/Media Library. The new cue box works just like the "Go To"
dialog, only it won't disappear after you have cued a song. This is useful
when using WinCue for a jukebox, as you can provide the user with a
numeric keypad and a list of songs with accompanying numbers, and the user
can cue songs by entering their number and pressing "Enter". There is also
a new option to automatically show the cue box at startup.
- New feature: Clean up Winamp playlist
WinCue can now clean up Winamp's playlist by deleting all entries before
the one currenly playing. There is also a new option for automatically
cleaning up the playlist whenever it reaches a given number of played
entries.
- New feature: Refuse cueing of new songs
WinCue can now refuse to cue new songs if there are more than a given
number of entries left in the playlist. This is useful for parties or
other situations where you don't want people to fill up the entire
playlist at once.
- AutoCue now has its own option page. Also added support for autocueing
songs from an external playlist file. This is useful for parties or other
situations where you want to control what is being autocued.
- Added a function to copy the current Winamp playlist in addition to
stealing it. (Copying will keep the Winamp playlist intact.)
- Random file cueing should now be more random.
- Dropping a playlist file in the WinCue window should work again now (It
has been broken for some time). Dropping anything but a .m3u file on the
window will now give you a warning message instead of a crash (or some
other random reaction).
- Optimized and cleaned up search feature. Searching should be a bit faster
now, and searches including special international characters should work
as expected.
- Fixed problems caused by playlists containing relative paths. All files
from playlists should be cued and played properly now.
- Finally got rid of the crash when Media Library contained empty or invalid
folders. (This should be the solution to most of the crashes users have
experienced.)
- Fixed problem with crashes/strange behaviour when AutoCue was enabled and
playlist/Media Library was empty.
- Fixed a bug in reading of ID3 v1.1 track numbers. Track numbers should
work now, this also fixes the problem with %a not working in the title
format string.
- Numbers shown in playlist now actually represent an entry's number in the
playlist/Media Library, it no longer changes for each search.
- Fixed problem with skin not changing when "Random skin on" play was
selected in Winamp
- Alt+F4 now works as expected. (Closes Winamp instead of just closing
WinCue and making it impossible to get back.)
- Cleaned up HTML exporting. Playlists exported to HTML now validates as
HTML 4.01 Transitional.
- A large number of bugfixes, optimizations and other improvements.
2001-12-23 - WinCue v1.32
- WinCue can now be moved by clicking anywhere in the window (aka EasyMove).
- Fixed problem with mousewheel scrolling in playlist not working.
- Added menu item to toggle AutoCue from Winamp's right-click menu.
- Cleaned up the "Options" dialog and added a "Skin" page.
- New feature: "Hide WinCue buttons" in "Skin Stealing" setup.
Enabling this will hide the buttons at the bottom of the WinCue window.
This might look better with some stolen skins.
- Fixed scrollbar so it can now be clicked anywhere to scroll to that
position.
- Fixed a problem with scrollbar movement resulting in a crash on some
systems.
- The up and down arrow buttons below the scrollbar now work like expected.
(They scroll the list up and down.)
- Fixed problem with skin stealing only working in 32bit display modes.
- Disabling skin stealing now works like expected. (The skin used to be
stolen at startup regardless of what the option was set to.)
- Various bugfixes and modifications.
2001-09-27 - WinCue v1.31
- Improved online help. Rewrote documentation accessed from the
"Instructions" item on the "Help" menu.

works.

menu or main window.
- Improved Winamp plug-in configuration dialog.
Added check-box for showing/hiding the WinCue window as well as a "Save &
Restart" button.

Winamp's "Previous", "Play", "Pause", "Stop" and "Next" buttons.
- New feature: "Select from search matches only" in AutoCue setup.
Enabling this will make WinCue only select files from the displayed list
of titles when cueing.
- Got rid of Windows buttons and Windows scrollbar in playlist.
- WinCue can now automatically eject MD or turn off MD recorder a specified
number of seconds after recording has completed. This will write the MD's
TOC and save the recording permanently.
- The "Command delay" setting for MiniDisc titling is now actually used.
- Redesigned "Options" dialog.
- Fixed a problem with titling MiniDiscs when illegal characters appeared in
the title.
- Added support for changing fonts in playlist, title bar and search text
field.
- Optimized HTML rendering. HTML files generated by WinCue are now smaller
than before.
- Added windowshade button to the title bar.
- Numerous bugfixes and minor improvements.
2001-02-25 - WinCue v1.27
- Added support for the WinRemote IR hardware for titling tracks on MiniDisc
as they are being recorded.
- Playlists can now also be exported as HTML files.
- WinCue now uses per-user settings instead of global settings.
This should solve any multi-user configuration problems on Windows NT and
2000 systems.
- Added support for Ctrl+A shortcut to select all items in list.
- Fixed a problem with some international characters and searching.
- Various other fixes and improvements.

2000-12-31 - WinCue v1.25

useful if you don't like losing your playlist when your system crashes.
- Added shortcut keys for "Play Now" (Ctrl+Enter) and "Clear & Cue"
(Ctrl+Shift+Enter).

- TAB key now toggles between search window and playlist window
- Fixed a problem with window height and windowshade mode
- Fixed a problem with the Ctrl+S ("Export Playlist") shortcut not working.
- Fixed some problems with ID3 tag reading.
- Several minor changes and fixes.
2000-11-20 - WinCue v1.20
- New feature: "Disable DelayPlay feature"
The DelayPlay feature can now be disabled in the "Options" dialog. This is
great for parties etc., where you don't want people to start DelayPlay by
accident.
- Added support for exporting playlist as text file.
- WinCue can now sort playlists in various ways. The list can be sorted by
title, filename or path and filename in addition to being reversed or
randomized.
- New feature: "Read ID3 tags"
When enabled, WinCue will read ID3 tags and use the information to title
songs in the playlist.
- New feature: "Show search results in title bar"
If enabled, WinCue will display the number of search matches in the title
bar instead of the total number of songs in playlist.
- New feature: "Sort Media Library"
If enabled, WinCue will sort the Media Library alphabetically when loaded.
Sort order can also be specified in the "Options" dialog.

and added some shortcuts.
- Several minor fixes and optimizations.

- Fixed problems with Media Library and "Check for new version at startup"
feature not working under Windows 95/98/ME.
- Fixed a problem with Media Library when using path names ending with a
slash (i.e. C:\, D:\, etc.).
2000-10-08 - WinCue v1.1
- Added support for shortcut keys. Pressing the ESC key now cancels the
current search. Pressing the F5 key now reloads current playlist or
refreshes Media Library. Several menu entries now have corresponding
shortcut keys (Check out the menus to see which).
- New feature: Media Library
WinCue now features something called Media Library. When this is active,
WinCue will scan a given list of directories to maintain a complete
listing of your media file collection. This is very useful for keeping
track of large song collections, as you don't have to generate a new
playlist file every time the collection changes. The Media Library is
activated by selecting the "Load Media Library..." entry on the "File"
menu.
- New feature: "Export Playlist..."
You can now save your WinCue playlist to disk as a Winamp playlist (.m3u)
file. This is especially useful for saving stolen playlists and exporting
the Media Library.
- New feature: "AutoCue".
The "Keep Winamp Playing" feature has been extended and renamed to
"AutoCue". It is now possible to select whether the next song should be
cued when Winamp starts the last song in the playlist, or when there is a
specified number of seconds left in the last song. See the "Options" help
section for details.
- New feature: "Include file paths in search".
If enabled, WinCue will also scan filenames and paths when searching for
songs, otherwise only what is actually displayed in the playlist window
will be included in the search.
- New feature: "Check for new version at startup".
If enabled, WinCue will check the internet to see if a newer version is
available at startup.
- New feature: "Confirm exit while in DelayPlay mode".
If enabled, WinCue will warn you if you try to close Winamp while in
DelayPlay mode.
- New "Options" dialog.
- Fixed the "AutoCue" feature (earlier known as "Keep Winamp Playing"
feature). Now it actually selects songs randomly.
2000-08-20 - WinCue v1.0 Beta 3
- New feature: "Shut Down When Done" on "DelayPlay" menu.
This shuts down/turns off the computer when done with the current
DelayPlay session.
- New feature: "Keep Winamp playing" in "Options" screen.
This makes WinCue automatically cue a random file when the end of Winamp's
playlist is reached. This is great for parties etc., where continous music
playback is wanted, but someone might forget to keep cueing files all the
time. Also useful for lazy people I guess...
- Fixed problem with WinCue submenu not appearing in Winamp when using
language packages.
- Fixed problem with detection of Winamp's repeat state when using language
packages.
- Files can now be cued by pressing the return key in the WinCue playlist.

- Fixed problem with playlists being opened in Winamp if dropped on WinCue
main window (outside the actual file list).
- Changed filename guessing function so it does not duplicate artist names
when artist name is a part of the filename.
- WinCue now uses a normal window instead of a dialog as its main window.
This fixed a few paint problems as well as making the program more stable
and well structured.
- Fixed problem with background color of status text and "Search:" caption.
- WinCue now sticks to Winamp like other Winamp windows. Feature can be
toggled in "Options" dialog.
